This week has been a "painful" reminder that unfortunately, we do get old. While I celebrated my thirty-something birthday, my sweet husband painfully found out that our bodies are older than we feel. While trying to spend some quality time with our kids, I took Princess shopping and my husband took Bub to a Tulsa skate park. They had a wonderful time. Later that afternoon, they thought it would be fun to go hang out and and walk Pedestrian bridge in Tulsa. There was a 5 foot ledge there and together, they jumped. Their immediate response, "Let's do that again!" So, off they went to walk the ledge and jump. As you know, most people think that the third time is the charm, unfortunately here it was the second. As my husband jumped off the ledge, he landed right on his ankle. It didn't roll, he landed on it. Being the good sport and loving father that he is, he hobbled to the car and still took Bub to the mini golf place and dinner at Chick Fil'A. They still had a blast.

We ended up having to visit the Dr on this one because it had swollen all the way to his toes and was black, blue and purple. As the Dr entered, she lovingly said "oh". We asked on a scale of 1-10, what kind of oh was that? The Dr. answered "I think you broke it - oh". Well, after about 4 x-rays, it is just a bad sprain. We will be visiting an orthopedic surgeon next week to learn of any major damage. Needless to say, we left with a walking boot, and prescriptions for Lortab and ibuprofen. We are doing much better, but he would be doing a lot better if I could keep him still long enough to keep the ankle elevated and swelling down.
